“Stitch’s Supersonic Celebration” Closing – Already

Disney officials have announced the closing of the new show, “Stitch’s Supersonic Celebration” which just debuted last month. “We remain focused on providing the best possible entertainment experience for our guests,” says a Disney spokesman. “In order to achieve this, we regularly evaluate and adjust our offerings.”

Not surprising, seeing as Disney just decided to put it in the middle of Tomorrowland with no shade and no seating. In fact, when I visited last, people were sitting many yards away from the show under the shelter of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority track that runs above.

One of the comments on the Orlando Sentinel article says this: “This show was pitiful. I watched it twice, hoping it would be better the second time. Nope. I like to have something different, but please put more thought into your shows, temporary or not. It did not seem to appeal to anyone, even the kids.” I agree.

My thoughts on this are: I don’t blame them for taking it out. In fact, it makes me feel good to know that they can tell which shows aren’t so popular. It gives me more confidence in them. This show had a bad location – and plus, what’s the big deal about go-go dancers? For more information, click here.

What are your thoughts? Let us know what you think of this in the comments!

Good to know, I’m leaving for WDW on Tuesday and I was debating on whether to see this show or not – but if it’s not closed already I think I’ll skip it.

I really like your blog! Keep up the posts!

      • Matt 6:38 pm on June 28, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Yes, I would skip it. Of course if you’re not sure, you could always watch a video of it on Youtube or something just in case it’s something you might be interested in.

And thanks for the compliments on the blog – I appreciate your support! =)

This is a tough poll to pick just one season. I ended up picking Winter, because I really enjoy coming during December and the Christmas Holidays.

I love the Obsorne Family Spectacle of Lights, the Candlelight Processional at Epcot, and all of the great Christmas decorations throughout the parks and resorts.

      • Matt 5:17 pm on June 10, 2009 Permalink | Reply

That’s a good thought, the lights and shows that happen in winter are amazing. I don’t really like cold weather – so winter is definitely not my top season though. I went with spring. ;)

Thanks for sharing Jamie, and thanks for your vote!

Link Away: Disney Community of Tomorrow

Welcome to another edition of Link Away, where I link to some of the best Disney sites on the internet today! D-Cot is personally one of my favorite sites to go to for many reasons. There’s so much to do on here: think of it as a Disney themed Facebook, and more. Keep reading to find out what exactly you can do on this site:

Facebook, Disney edition: Like I mentioned above, D-Cot is just like Facebook, except better. Simply create an account, and when you log in, you can view/edit your profile, view/add/invite “pals”, see the newest, most active, and most popular members, and view the recent activities of the community. Also like Facebook, you can upload your own photos for everyone to see (or just your friends, depending on your privacy settings)!

Great forums, too: D-Cot also has a great forum, where members can discuss anything from Disney World and Disneyland to Dining and music. But don’t get me wrong, there are categories for non-Disney discussions, too. All you have to do is become a member, and then let the discussions begin! And now on to the main event, the Jukebox.

The Disney JUKEBOX: This is by far the best feature of the site. The D-cot JUKEBOX is like your portal to a lot of Disney themepark music. Categories include almost all Disney parks’ audio, plus monorail spiels, some resort area music, and more. You can rate every song, and even purchase some of them on iTunes! Then build a “Favorites” playlist, and also play your pals’ favorites anytime. It’s better than online radio because you choose what to play, and when to play it.

Also in the Jukebox, you can see the Listener list (and what everyone’s listening to), and participate in Mouse Chat, just a live chatbox for the listeners to talk about anything on their mind such as “I’m going to lunch now”.

So go on, head over to D-Cot and see the forums and Jukebox for yourself! (I’m on there as tcwmatt so keep a look out for me). Any thoughts? Let us know in the comments what you think of this site!

“Top 7 Must Sees” Show Replaced, Keeping Stacey

You know the feeling. You finally arrive to your Walt Disney World Resort hotel, set your luggage down, and flip on the TV. You’re greeted with Stacey, your host for the Walt Disney World “Top Seven Must Sees” show (which is more like 107, right?). You wither get a feeling of happiness, or an annoyed feeling. You either like Stacey or can’t stand her.

I thought the show (while she did act somewhat stupid) was a part of my Disney experience – and for that, I always liked her.

I was surprised when I flipped on my resort television this past weekend. Stacey was still there, but she was in a different show called “Must Do Disney”.

On this new show (same channel and everything), Stacey goes through each park and outlines the “must do” attractions. There are a couple reactions and thoughts I had, and I’ll share those with you right now:

She acts more normal, with just snippets from the old show. For the most part, she acts normal (and is obviously not ad-libbing like she did before). However, if you are a fan of her old, crazy self, then you’re in luck, because as she’s going through the must do’s in each park, they show snippets of her from the old show.

She’s not good at acting normal. Maybe it’s just because I’m used to her the other way. But when I was watching her in the new footage, I thought that she was actually bad at acting normal! I think it’s due to the fact (as mentioned above) that when she acted crazy, she was ad-libbing…and now, she is reading from a script.

I searched, and haven’t found any news sites with this story on them. So if you’re looking for proof, I have none, except for the fact that on her official website, she has “Must Do Disney” listed in her resume.

What’s your opinion? Would you rather have Stacey in the new, less crazy show, or did you like the old show better? If you’ve seen the new show, let us know your opinion now! Photo: Stacey Aswad

We too have discovered that Stacey wasn’t quiet her perky self on our recent WDW June ’09 trip. The kids, 8 & 6, watched the new Stacey, but, more than once during the trip, they expressed missing the old Stacey and that Disney wasn’t the same without her. I have found the full featured Top 7 Must See video on the web today. I’ll present that to the kids tonight as a way to patch their shattered souls. :D

We love you Stacey, but we like the original show better.
(“Look at all the lazy people in the lazy river” – one of our favorite Stacey quotes from Top 7 Must See.)

I agree. She was a big part of the Disney experience (even if I really didn’t “enjoy” watching her). ;)

Nooo…bring back the old Top Seven! I just discovered Stacey last Christmas and she pretty much changed my life! I saw these new promos and was aghast! :-( What did Disney do to poor Stacey?? They turned her into Ben Stein!

Well I wouldn’t go that far! haha But yeah, she was a part of my trip, whether I truly liked her or not.

I miss the old show!! Did she grow old? Or went corporate?

Was it the new clothing and the makeup? They make her look like everybody’s aunt.

Was it the editing? I don’t understand why Disney decided to change her voice-overs for images of her speaking in a studio saying basically the same stuff.

      • Matt 4:36 pm on July 18, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Probably the main reason they changed it up a little bit was simply for something different. She is calmer now – which is a plus for me (even though I miss the crazy Stacey occasionally).

I was mad when they changed the good old tour from years ago with the zip-a-dee-doo-dah theme and the little paper cutouts! But I got used to not seeing it, then I got used to Stacey, and I’m sure we’ll get used to the “new” Stacey. Eventually. :)

We REALLY miss the original host of the Top 7 Must Sees. She seemed more genuine and always appeared to have a great time while shooting this show. Her constant smile, heart-warming laughter and sweet, perky personality is sorely missed. You can judge for yourself. I think this is the 2004 spot with Mission Space as the TOP attraction:

      Enjoy!!!! — …….and we miss you, Kryssa….:o(

      • Matt 11:21 pm on July 19, 2009 Permalink | Reply

I remember seeing Kryssa, but my memories of her are very vague. I remember she was calmer than Stacey.

Thanks for the video link! :)

Both my husband and I miss the “old,” perky Stacey…Why on earth did Disney revamp what was seemingly working (at least IMO)??? We’ve been watching the original Stacey for the past several years…”Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke!” :(

      • Matt 1:12 pm on May 16, 2010 Permalink | Reply

True, Audrey. I guess they thought it was just time for a change…whether or not it was popular or not probably didn’t have an affect on the decision…but who knows.

Personally I would scrap the whole Top 7/Must Do’s thing and just give a nice, simple, classic tour of each park like it used to be.

        Thanks for sharing!

I just got back from Disney yesterday! It was great being there with my son , sister and girlfriend. We have a ton of “disney moments” to treasure always. There were some things that I did not expect. 1) the crowd! i thought it would be quieter at this time of year . I was way wrong. 2) I think the people over 50 who fight and shove their way forward past children for a character meet and greet or a fast pass should be removed and banned from the parks. 3) I loved what my kids and I called “The Stacey Show” This new revamped show stinks. They should just have a film crew follow Stacey around the parks letting her be herself! She was a blast in the first one! She dressed fun, acted fun and really sold the parks. On 3 seperate trips we only watched her show when the TV was on! The new show which i am referring to as “The Matronly, Boring ,soccer- Mom Stacey Show” we only watched once. One time was enough. As I said it stunk. Again Disney Ad peopl, let the girl do her thing! She naturally portrays what everyone who goes there wants to be a part of, the magic that is Disney! Oh and the other show with the skinny , fake, ratty-looking, boring, phony blonde that you have running needs to be removed. WE LOVE YOU STACEY!

please bring Stacey back! say’s my husband! Jim
watched her (I think just to try my patience!) every day
as it was on a loop during several of our vacations! to
WDW including the honeymoon! I thought the old Stacey had
alot of great ideas and info but she was just tooo! peppy for
my 4:30 am wake up’s but my husband loved her ad would watch it for hours mornings and nights after we’d come in from the parks!
      thanks Stacey

Interesting information here… my wife and I were last at WDW from Australia in November/December ’08 and November ’06 before that and on both ocassions we loved having Stacey on the TV while getting ready to hit the parks in the morning and when unwinding after a huge day. I have been wondering whether Disney would be updating her info piece by the time we get there next which will be November this year.
Sounds like they have but it also sounds like it’s gone south in quality of entertainment hey? We’ll be anxious to see how it stacks up ourselves. If it is ordinary at least I have the old Must Sees show on my iPod downloaded from some website I found not long after our last trip. The only problem with the download though is that the video track seems to be a fraction slower than the sound track because by the time you get to the end, the sound ends a good 5 seconds or so before the video. Still, better than not having it at all.
