Disney’s Awesome Things #1: Finally Arriving and Seeing the Entrance Sign

#1 Depending on where you live, it takes a lot to travel to the Walt Disney World Resort. Whether it’s a long plane ride, or simply the classic car ride to the World, both of these options are tiring and sometimes stressful.
For me, it’s about a three hour car ride. But after all the tiresome and stressful things you go through, it’s nice to be driving down the road and encounter the thing you’ve been waiting for.
It’s a sight that never gets old. It’s the Walt Disney World entrance sign, and it simply lets you know you’re home – and that another magical adventure awaits.
P.S. I’m leaving for the Resort later this afternoon – so I’ll be seeing this sign in a few hours. Enjoy the long weekend!

We will testify that that archway was a huge tool in saving our marriage. The rule is, when you pass under the archway you cannot talk about anything negative. No work, no church (which was work for my husband), so stressful subjects. We were free to be kids again. We talked about the future, we were (and still are) more affectionate, and life outside the archway got easier to handle. We love that archway!

That’s an incredible story! I never thought the Disney welcome arch would save a marriage, but if that’s what had to happen then it’s good it did. =)
Great story, thanks for stopping by!

When I worked for the mouse there was always the back way to work to bypass the resort guests driving about 20 mph right at the entrance to capture that picture perfect moment. Well I worked at Magic Kingdom and alot of the time I would leave for work a little bit early just so I could drive under the arch. For some reason it would put me a little more in the mood to be at work for the most magical place on earth!

That is awesome, Brooke. I love driving under the arch as I’m sure everyone does!
I really bet that got you in the Disney mood, it definitely would for me. Thanks for sharing that!

To me this is like when you pass a state line into another state… this crosses me into another world! It always feels as though I leave this old world of troubles, problems, debts, work etc. etc. and drive into a world of dreams, where anything is possible and nothing is wrong in this world! Which is what Walt intended. Disneyland you could see the roads and traffic and he said it reminded people of their busy life and what they had waiting for them to do. With Disney World you don’t have that ,you enter a whole different, -perfect -part of the world!
I know my vacation has begun when I enter this arch, and I dont pass back under until my vacation is over and I must face reality once again for another year! But Ill be back !!!
