Don’t even start your car.
A great thing about vacationing in the Walt Disney World Resort is that transportation is complimentary – and it can take you to just about any location in the Resort! This means you’ll save gas by not driving your car to the parks and back to your resort. Disney Transportation (officially named “Disney Transport”) offers more than one way to get around the World. The system consists of the Disney Transport busses, Walt Disney World Monorail System, ferry boats, and water launches.
Types of Transportation & Where it Goes
WALT DISNEY WORLD MONORAIL SYSTEM
The monorail system is Disney’s most well-known form of transportation. There are three “lines” of the monorail system to take you to different areas. These include:
Express – The Express line takes you from the Ticket and Transportation Center (car parking for the Magic Kingdom) to the Magic Kingdom park.
Resort – The Resort line takes you around the Magic Kingdom loop – stopping at the Magic Kingdom, the Contemporary Resort, the Polynesian Resort, and the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
Epcot – The Epcot line takes you from the Transportation and Ticket Center to the Epcot park.
DISNEY TRANSPORT BUSSES
The Disney Transport busses take guests from every resort to every theme park and water park and back. The busses do not travel between Downtown Disney and other parks – except Typhoon Lagoon.
The ferry boats take guests between the Magic Kingdom and Transportation and Ticket Center. It’s for those who don’t prefer the monorail ride – however when calculated, the ferries take the same time as the monorails to reach the destination.
Water launches provide many ways to travel between Resorts, parks, and the Downtown Disney area. Some notable ones include travel between the Magic Kingdom and the Polynesian and Grand Floridian Resorts, travel between Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, travel between Epcot and the Epcot Resorts, and many more. Check with your hotel to see if water transportation comes to your resort – it’s a time saver!
